Manufacturing Methods and Computer Systems to help your company prosper from "Quotation to Cash"
Manufacturing Software Strategy and Tactics Methods Articles Home

It all starts with the words "I'd like to place an order."  Customer service instantly pulls up all the details on the customer. They know his track record and exactly what has been ordered before. At the same time they know the factory workload so they can make realistic delivery promises.  They can review the status of existing orders and can prepare quotations. Most important of all is their ability to enter detailed item information and then with a few keystrokes send the order directly to manufacturing.

ORDER ENTRY - CUSTOMER DETAILS

1

Select a customer by entering his ID# or by using the spin buttons. By right clicking the customer box you can  searched  by customer name, sales representative, type of company, or by parent company (branch or subsidiary). You can also enter information for a new customer on this screen.
2  Default ship-to location is displayed. This can be changed for individual orders.
3 Default sales rep information is displayed for the customer including commission rates. Two sales reps are shown for each customer allowing split commissions. This information can be over-ridden for each order.
4 The customer's discount structure is displayed. This can be a combination of line item, total order discounts, and multiple special sales discounts for the order being entered.
5 Details of all the customer's orders are displayed. Click on an order to see the items and options chosen. You may then click the "copy" button to duplicate the original order. After copying you can modify or delete any items. This is a great feature to use when your customers have repetitive orders (i.e., kitchens in an apartment complex).
6 How busy is the factory on the day the customer wants delivery? Click here for an instant update!  Scheduling orders by $/day is an important  financial tool.
7 Unlimited text and/or standard messages can be added to an order. It can be tagged with an item to supply details to the factory or shipping and packing notes for the entire order.
8 Sales history overview alerts order entry clerk to customer status.

Glossary

Bills of Materials  are the core of true manufacturing systems. They link together customer orders, manufacturing instructions with  material and labor requirements.

Dynamic (parametric) Bills of Material are used for entire families of products eliminating the need at most companies for 90% of individual Bills of Material. However, Static (Conventional) Bills of Material are still valuable and our system incorporates them with a full range of Options and Features
