ORDER ENTRY - ITEM DETAILS
Get it right -so you only need to do it once. One of SIM*plicity's greatest success stories was at a client where we reduced the time from order entry to shop floor from three days to three minutes! It was simple, we educated and gave tools to order entry to fully define and price out every item - eliminating a detour to engineering and product pricing. Every variant, including size changes, that effects the manufacturing process can be configured. (In simpler words: all options and features can be selected from these screens. For more information on options and features please click here.)

Product Information: Item Name and Standard Description. within a Class (products, components, materials, etc.) so you can search for products by their description, name, sales group, etc. An additional description can be entered which will appear on the order and shipping labels. This is in addition to the unlimited text that can be added to document any item. |
| 2 | Enter the quantity and the standard price will appear. It is automatically modified if any of the Order Options have an upcharge (i.e., oak edges instead of 3mm edgebanding). |
| 3 | The standard product picture is displayed. It can be a photo, drawing or an Autocad drawing (optional module) with the actual options and features selected. |
| 4 | Order Options for the selected item are
highlighted and displayed in red until the necessary information is
entered. The order entry clerk is presented only with valid options
(i.e., If you select a wood edge you are offered only wood finishes -
not edgebanding colors) and are advised by a yellow box if the choice is
not active (discontinued color, etc.).
The Product Option tab highlights optional features that can be selected for this type of item. (Veneered end panels for cabinets, corner rounding for table tops, etc.). Text can be added to these options if necessary. |
| 5 | Default dimensions are displayed. Changing these dimensions will automatically update the SIM*plicity Bills of Material (sizes, process times, etc.). Many product prices are dependent on dimensions (area, perimeter, etc.) and are automatically adjusted as dimensions are changed. |
| 6 | when all the details are correct click the ADD button (if you've edited the item the button will be marked UPDATE - as on the above screenprint). Continue entering items until the order is complete then click on SUMMARY tab (blue on right side of screen). Review the order and then print or just accept it. |
| 7 | Click on the modify tab (blue on right side of screen) and then click on the Order Approval button. This will release the order to your factory and adjust your production schedule, machine loading and inventory requirements. |
Some companies have wide product lines and these may require different "options and features". Here is how a chair would appear. Note that the order options have changed to suit the type of product.

| Product Engineering | Bill of Material Flow Chart | Bills of Materials are the core of true manufacturing systems. They link together customer orders, manufacturing instructions with material and labor requirements. Dynamic (parametric) Bills of Material are used for entire families of products eliminating the need at most companies for 90% of individual Bills of Material. However, Static (Conventional) Bills of Material are still valuable and our system incorporates them with a full range of Options and Features |
