Fax to a friend – Manufacturing Systems

Rapid, on-time, delivery!

Security!

Customized for you!

Putting on my other hat -- the engineering one (rather than sales) -- let me tell you what the situation really is. If your company can use Macola or a similar package out of the box (no modifications), do it! It's a safe decision and quick fix.

I offer something different and more substantive -- an opportunity to (re)structure your company's manufacturing by changing the way information is collected and (more importantly) used. Off-the-shelf packages are the opposite. A salesman comes in, does a flashy demo, a quick installation, and disappears. All he did was document the way you presently work and gave you a faster electronic pencil (with a big eraser on which to chew).

This may be all you need. Our target market, is different: companies with complex machining decisions and sophisticated assembly options tied to the need to deliver their product rapidly. Most of our clients stress their ability to deliver any product, no matter how complex, in any material, with any finish, in one week ....... and do it profitably.

Most out-of-the-box manufacturing systems are glorified accounting systems using a commercial database like Access. (They record history but don't guide you in making cost-effective decisions that will satisfy your customers.) They boast that you can use other commercial programs to write directly into your data (or better yet pay their salesman to write special applications for you). Sooner or later Jack always pops out of this box and you find yourself with a pile of corrupted data.

Our approach is different. SIM*plicity will import and export into most commercial programs, but it's a closed database to ensure security. Over the years not one of our clients has ever lost any data. We have clients with more than 50,000 customer orders in their system and within a few seconds they can immediately access the details of any order.

Feldman Engineering's benchmark is not the number of systems we sell a year, but our performance in supporting and customizing them to meet each client's exact needs. We encourage our clients to lease SIM*plicity because this creates an on-going relationship which includes full support and continuing upgrades

Please give me a call if you need more information. If you must move on this immediately, my advice is to come down and visit some local systems. At no charge we can then spend a day or two developing a workable database for your products so you can see exactly how a good system will function. You won't hurt my feelings if you decide to go with off-the-shelf software, but be careful that you don't spend a small fortune customizing it. Keep in touch and let me know what's happening.

Glossary

Bills of Materials  are the core of true manufacturing systems. They link together customer orders, manufacturing instructions with  material and labor requirements.

Dynamic (parametric) Bills of Material are used for entire families of products eliminating the need at most companies for 90% of individual Bills of Material. However, Static (Conventional) Bills of Material are still valuable and our system incorporates them with a full range of Options and Features
