ADDING & EDITING NEW PRODUCTS

New products can be added as needed in either ENGINEERING  (ADD RECORDS selection) or ORDER ENTRY.  This page discusses adding products in ORDER ENTRY which gives you the option of defining the physical characteristics and pricing.  To edit existing products please jump to instruction #6.

1

Select the Order Entry tab on the Accordion and then click on Product Definition.
2 Place your cursor on the Product Number box and RIGHT Click..  IN the dialogue box that will then appear select the last item ADD PRODUCTS.
3 The ADD MASTER RECORD window will open prompting you to add a new product to Class H1 (the product class). For complete details on entering Master Records please view that section of SIM*plicity Support - FAQ's.  You need to enter the product code (up to 10 characters and a description of up to 30 characters. Then select a "unit value" product group from the pull down list.  Sales Group and Option/Drawings can be added later.
4 Select Okay to close the ADD MASTER RECORD BOX . If you just want to add the product without getting involved with pricing or dimensions - you are done  -  SAVE and exit the module.
5 Add product dimensions in decimal inches,  fractional inches or metric,   Changing these dimensions at the time of order entry will automatically update  the SIM*plicity Bills of Material (sizes, process times, etc.). Many product prices are dependent on dimensions (area, perimeter, etc.) and are automatically adjusted as dimensions are changed. Volume is calculated automatically and weight can either calculated or manually entered.

6

The product Pricing tab should be selected. If not click on it to select.
7-9 This defines the option or feature 7 used for pricing. The selected product has a base price of $92 8 and depending on the product style (unit value of the selected style) optional upcharges of up to $40  9.
10 If the product has a  specific bill of material or is part of family of products (unit value) that has dynamic bills then the other options and features for this product have been defined - and you can SAVE and EXIT

11

If no Bill of Material has been defined place check marks on the options and features for this product.  Then SAVE and Exit.

In the above example the product belongs to a family of products (Wall Cabinets) that has a dynamic bill. In your test database you can use the "misc" value for new products to ensure that their options and features have not been defined.

The options and features selections - "Product Style, Primary Fabric, etc. can be changed for your company. Different lists of the options and features can be called up for types of products.
